Biography
Patricia
Shull received her nursing education at Germantown Medical Center
and graduated from Eastern University with her BA in Health Administration.
She comes to us with more
than 23 years experience in Adult Day Services including development
and administration of Adult Care of Chester County. Almost from the
beginning, Pat has been involved in the field outside of the center.
She served as Regional Representative at the state and National level,
President of the Pennsylvania Adult Day Services Association and
Chair of the National Adult Day Services Association. She also served
on the Board of Directors of the National Council on the Aging. She
recently concluded 8 years of service on the Board of Trustees of
CARF…the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission. Pat has recently
returned to the PADSA Board and is serving as President-elect and
will assume the office of President on July 1, 2007. She has presented
at many state, regional and national conferences. Adult Care of Chester
County was selected as a Model site by the Partners In Caregiving
project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and she as a mentor
and consultant.

Owen Lavery
has served as administrator of Riverside Adult Day Care Center in
Plains, Pa.since March 2003.
For 11
years he served as executive director of the Northeast Pennsylvania
Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
He is a graduate
of Wilkes University with a BA degree in political
science. He is married to Carol Lavery and they have two children.

Biography
Susan M.
Nirschel has been serving the Adult Day Service community since
1996 and has 27 years of nursing care experience. Prior to her
appointment as Director for Adult Day Services for Easter Seals
Western Pennsylvania, Ms. Nirschel’s work included medical-surgical
nursing, rehabilitative nursing, and geriatric nursing. Easter
Seals is the largest non-profit provider of Adult Day Service in
the nation, serving adults with cognitive/ and physical impairments
and their caregivers and families. In this region, Easter Seals
has four locations in Allegheny and Washington Counties and is
recognized by National Easter Seals as “Centers of Excellence”.
In addition to her position as Director, Ms. Nirschel serves as
a mentor for the Easter Seals affiliate in Kentucky, serves on
the board of the Pennsylvania Adult Day Service Association, and
is a founding member of the Adult Day Service Network in Western
Pennsylvania. Ms. Nirschel is a presenter for several Easter Seals
programs to support and aid caregivers, including Transportation
Solutions for Caregivers. This program is the result of collaboration
between Easter Seals, U.S. Department of Transportation, Administration
on Aging, Faith in Action, the Beverly Foundation and several organizations
who serve the needs of older adults.

Stephanie has
been an important part of the Riverview team for the past 10 months.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic
Recreation and has loved her experiences in the field of aging for
the past 16 years.
Stephanie has
a background in working with seniors in activities, conducting a
support group and providing caregiver
education . Her current role
at the Riverview Adult Day Health Center is to coordinate the day
to day operations of the center, all of the participant care, to
work
with families on any concerns they may have.
Our team treats
everyone with dignity and respect and we open our hearts to everyone
as a
part of our extended family. Her favorite aspect of this job is
working with the participants and their families and helping to provide
them
a quality of life. She enjoys bringing her dog, Hope, to the center
each day as part of our pet therapy program. Stephanie believes
in the power of unconditional love that pets provide for people.

is
a Dementia Management Specialist.

seven years, Russ has been co-owner and administrator for Family
Matters Adult Day Center in Clifton Heights,
Delaware County. He is the financial
secretary for the Clift Heights Business Association, a position he
has held for the past 2 1/2 years. He is a 15-year member of the
Malvern Retreat League.

Biography
Lisa Brown
serves as Home Nursing Agency’s
Director of Adult Day Services and has also accepted the leadership
position as the Agency’s Director of Private Duty Services.
She is responsible for developing and supervising operations at
the Agency’s four adult day centers throughout Bedford, Blair
and Cambria counties as well as overseeing daily functions and
staff of the Agency’s private duty services. In addition,
Lisa participates in various speaking engagements on Dementia/Alzheimer
and acts as a strong advocate of community outreach and education
on how and why adult day and private duty services can help prevent
premature institutionalization and caregiver burnout. Prior to
becoming Adult Day Director in 1996, she worked in hospice care.
Lisa, an Altoona native, is a 1992 graduate of the Pennsylvania
State University and holds a bachelors degree in health policy
and administration. She currently resides in Hollidaysburg with
her husband and daughter, Jordan.

Mary O’Donnell has been employed by Telespond Senior Services,
Inc. for 16 years. She is the Adult Day /Respite Services Director
for their Scranton Adult Day Service, Director of the Abington Senior
Center, and Director of Telespond’s In-Home Attendant and Homemaker
programs. Mary is a graduate of LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY, with
graduate studies at SUNY Cortland. She is presently serving as the
Northeast Regional Representative for PADSA. She is a member of the
Prime Time Health Task Force for Lackawanna County, Lackawanna County’s
Coalition on Aging, the Senior Networking Alliance, and the PA Association
of Senior Centers. Mary has four grown children and resides in Clarks
Summit with her husband Kevin.

Judi Ahram RPT is a licensed physical therapist with 35 years experience
primarily in geriatrics. Ten years ago she founded ElderWatch Plus
Adult Day Services, and serves as the Director of the Center. Most
recently, Judi is working on a grant project, the P.L.U.S. Club,
a special program within her center designed for people with early
onset or early stage dementia (www.elderwatchpluspa.org). Judi is
also the President of the SEPA Alliance of Adult Day Services. She
lives outside Philadelphia, and has three grown children.

Faith Hoover is the Director of Home and Community Services
at Landis Homes in Lititz, PA. She directs the Adult Day Services programs
as well as gives leadership to Landis at Home, offering personal care
and support services to persons in their homes.
Faith is a registered nurse with a Baccalaureate degree from Eastern
Mennonite University in Management and Organizational Development.
She has a depth of experience in working with persons with memory impairment
and in managing outreach services through her community contacts related
to adult day services.
Prior to her work at Landis Homes Faith worked at Philhaven Hospital
in Mt. Gretna. Positions there included her role as a Nurse Manager
for the Older Adult Service Line, Manager of the Adult Unit and a position
in Psychiatric Home Care.

Leslie Gilman is currently
the Pennsylvania Director of Operations for Senior Care Centers
of America. She oversees five Adult Day Health
Centers in the SE PA region. Leslie has started up several facilities
including an Adult Day Center in Chestnut Hill in 1994. She has over
25 years of health care management experience including hospital,
long-term care and adult day, and is also a Pennsylvania-licensed
nursing home administrator.
She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the SEPA Alliance
of Adult Day Centers, the Long Term Care Advisory Committee of the
Philadelphia Corporation of Aging, and the Social Services Advisory
Committee of Center in the Park Senior Center. She received her BS
in Psychology in 1977 and her MBA in Health Administration in 1980,
both from Temple University. Leslie resides with her family just
outside Philadelphia.

Deborah Wilson Kelly, LPN , is the Program Coordinator
with VNA Extended Care Services, a private duty home care agency of
which the Clarion Forest Adult Daily Living Center is a program. She
has been employed within the Clarion Forest VNA system for over 25
years and has held a wide variety of positions ranging from field nurse,
quality assurance nurse and home care coordinator. Deb has been the
Program Coordinator at her Adult Day Center for the last 10 years and
coordinator of the private duty program for eight years. Deb believes
strongly in the positive impact of adult day care, and the effective
service that can be delivered at a reasonable cost.
